Senior Vice President, Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer University of Maryland Medical System

Roderick King is the Inaugural Senior Vice President, Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the University of Maryland Medical System. He holds an Adjunct Professor appointment at the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management, and Massachusetts General Hospital Disparities Solutions Center. He was selected as the Inaugural Fellow for the National Academy of Sciences in Medicine, a Fulbright Nexus Fellow and served as the Chairman of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Minority Health and from 2010-2011, served as the Senior Advisor to the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Health Resources and Services Administration, for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

King’s academic and  consulting roles focus on minority health policy and improving the health of underserved communities via leadership and organizational change to address health disparities, health workforce development and diversity. In particular, he has worked to improve the health of communities nationally through collaborative leadership efforts designed to create aligned actions and measurable results. His cross-sector work with leaders to build healthier communities have made measurable improvements in health outcomes domestically and internationally.
