
Jessica Patel
Jessica is the Creator of Groove and also the Head of Content and Learning Resources at the Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining the Foundation, Jessica spent her award-winning career in the editorial space as a journalist and business leader. She has worked or created content for Bankrate, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Gap and HerMoney, among others.
Jessica has experience as a financial journalist and entrepreneur. She has personal passion for the financial education space and started Groove to make a tool that was accessible, fun and impactful for financially anxious individuals. Since the launch of Groove last year, Jessica has been attending conferences and speaking on behalf of the Foundation to share the mission as well as the vision for Groove.
Jessica comes from a journalism background, where she spent years hearing individuals stories about finances and the stress that it brought. After that, she started her own business and has the experience of being an entrepreneur and the challenging and rewarding part of that. Also, as the creator of Groove, a financial wellness platform, she has worked with researchers from Duke to create a platform that responds to people’s financial needs and accompanies them on a successful journey to their financial future.
Jessica’s speaking engagements include the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) Annual Symposium, The Mark Bishop Show, Next Gen Personal Finance and Higher Education Financial Wellness Alliance symposium.
