As Director of Research, Michael designs and delivers research that helps policymakers, financial services providers, and employers turn data into meaningful action. Committed to building a more equitable and financially resilient society, he joined the Financial Health Network to contribute his skills to that shared mission.

Michael brings expertise in survey design and analysis, quantitative modeling, and mixed-methods research, with a particular focus on financial and economic measurement across diverse communities. He collaborates across teams to connect findings with strategy, policy, and practice, sharing insights through impactful reports, peer-reviewed publications, and briefs for broad public audiences.

Michael’s career spans more than 15 years across government, technology, finance, and academia. Prior to joining the Financial Health Network, he served as a behavioral scientist at Morningstar studying disparities in saving and retirement investment, and as Director of Research for the Wisconsin Court System, where he led statewide research on judicial equity and child welfare. He has also conducted research at Meta Platforms and the U.S. Army and spent a decade as a researcher and professor at Indiana University Kelley School of Business, University of North Texas, and Grinnell College.

Michael holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Indiana University and a B.A. from Yale University.
