Millions of Americans lack access to high-quality, affordable credit. While innovating in the small-dollar credit industry poses challenges, the opportunity to serve borrowers in need of high-quality, small-dollar loans is significant.

Our latest study—A Snapshot of Quality and Innovation Among Small-Dollar Credit Installment Lenders—surveys a sample of 16 installment lenders that have adopted some of the high-quality practices described in CFSI’s Compass Guide to Small-Dollar Credit.

Our objective is to identify practices in the SDC installment market that encourage quality and increase innovation, which enables lenders to find better ways to meet borrower needs, create a more loyal customer base, and drive longer-term revenue.

The Compass Principles are supported in part by Omidyar Network and CFSI’s Founding Partner, the Ford Foundation.
